Yahoo Green, Freecycle.org

I always liked Yahoo.
Recently I read in Hindustan Times about the yahoo Green site.
Also the http://www.freecycle.org/ site is very good idea, if people want to throw the things they dont want, it may be wanted by some one else, so post it on web and share it so a freecycle of items around the globe makes the waste usage makes the world Green! [is this a lengthy para?]
I expect a lot from Yahoo not from Microsoft on web.
I dont like Microsoft buying Yahoo either.

Arthur C. Clarke Dies

I am a fan of Arthur. His Moon Oddyssey, 2001 Space Oddyssey .. and many other sci-fi novels are a Gem and precursor to Tamil Novelist Sujatha’s Juno. See the coincidence… Sujatha died just a week before. But it is also obnoxious to know that Arthur C. Clarke is divorced and his reputation marred in child abuse case, that’s why he is said to have been migrated to Asia, that is Srilanka where u can get away with anything by bribery. Also Sri Lanka is famous for its Toursim, Beaches, Ethinic Strife. So it is a surmise he used Sri Lanka for his sexual gratification after divorce. We cant say anything solidly now, as he is dead. But this is the price for the over indulgence in the name of Freedom the westerners are paying. We Asians, atleast Indians have been saying – educating people to control the 5 senses.

My Dream : Why not Google Ocean?

I am avid user of Google Earth, Google Mars planet etc. But I am astounded to see there is no site to see our 70% of our Earth’s matter the Ocean. I am a lover of Nature, so I love seeing the Ocean waves, which is a meditation itself. You can go on watch the Mahabalipuram Sea waves, the Tuticorin Thermal Power Camp 2 beach waves, Kanya kumari beach waves. Sitting at Agra, 2000 kms away from my home town Tuticorin I yearn to watch those Ocean Currents and the treasure trove inside them, on my Desktop, with the power of the net and the processor. I hope my WISHLIST will be addressed by Google or any other innovating company to bring back the Greatness of the Ocean on Net.
I used to see Microsoft Ocean CD for educating myself more on Oceans, but still it lacks the real punch of the Ocean.
Also the Fish Screensavers provide a better understanding of Ocean Species.
So that power of the software are yet to be brought on to the web.
If only I can explore the Earth’s Oceans as I browse the landmass in Google Earth?
That seems to be a distant dream, though a marvellous one at that!
Intex 5.1 speakers 4800W humming problem
My Intex woofer got a humming sound while playing music.
It comes after some time of play of any CD, DVDs. It hums loudly behind.
I thought its Transformer gone, later on came to understand that I connected the woofer after voltage stabilizer. The Voltage Stab is the villain.
Otherwise, the repair man was about to paint me white for Rs.400!

Samsung 56V 15” CRT monitor OSD problem
My entry mate Sgt. Rajesh Kumar from Bihar came to me crying.
His monitor developed a small problem. On Screen Display menu or screen setting menu doesn’t go even after pressing the “Exit” button in front of the monitor.
A “Control Locked” message remains on the screen.
Googled it :many useless links

1 right link found : http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/advice/t-8222.html

It is not that button is stuck or something virus or spyware, or w.r.t computer settings.
The problem is with the control IC behind the monitor.
Give your monitor to your good computer montior technician to change the control IC. It costed me Rs.700 including service charge and replacement of IC.:) happy monitoring and computing and surfing

I took Sgt. Rajesh to Shah Market where Mr.Upendra [Upendra.Pc.Repair 9897640777] is doing a wonderful service in Agra for monitor / motherboard repairs.
Like Ex-Sgt Vincent does in Chandigarh sector 8C.

Problem solved. Micon – the micro chip IC changed. [It can be flashed also, but u need a EEPROM device for that and the Samsung company software –which is hard to get]

Expense: Rs.600 – considering Agra cost of living; that 100 Rs. Discount is worth!

Train from Delhi to Khajuraho

Thanks Railway minister Lalu Yadav for promoting Tourism. I lamented in my earlier Khajuraho Blog that there was no direct train link to India’s most visited Tourist Spot. I think the Powers That Be listened. Also kudos to them for having introduced Rameshwaram to Benares train. A truly devotee point of view ministry! God will certainly help Lalu score more successes!

Buying Guide: 19” LCD TFT monitor

For the past days I am moving around Sadar Bazaar, Big Bazaar, TDI Mall, E-Zone, Sanjay Place, Shah Market in Agra with one goal: to buy a LCD TFT monitor or TV. Lots of reading, research…26” LCD TV also came in to picture, thank god I have not mixed my PC experience with a TV. A TV has to be separate. Also a HDTV resolution / quality / clarity is less. Finally settled down to Samsung 920NW. Wide monitors have very long horizontal view 1440 x 900 resolution. Disadvantages of Wide Screen:
· Wikipedia is a long horizontal line to read.
· Screen is delicate. Can’t tolerate some hot coffee on it. Old CRT glasses are tolerant on any edibles falling on it.
· 19” wide screen is 6.8% less screen area than 19” normal.
· Vast empty spaces of screen in Google results, ms word, and browsing pages designed for 800 x 600.
Advantage of Wide Screen:
· Less scrolling :- view of doc, pdf files, web pages benefited
· The aspect ratio of A4 paper is 1.414, which is closer to a widescreen monitor ratio for print previews in the landscape
· Highest resolution format; still far ahead of HDTV [Wikipedia says]
· They give out less heat, no UV, no flickr, no headache.
· Closest to normal human field of vision
· Preferred by big action, event, or epic films
· More eye movements. Your eye go to the end of the screen both sides, which means your eyes work more, so it is natural, it is lubricated.
· HEALTH is major benefit of the LCD TFT wide monitor users.
· Also the wide monitor means, the 1440 x 900 native resolution makes the horizontal mouse movements also longer.
· To help my hands, I just increased the Mouse Speed from Control Panel > Mouse settings. Now my hands are less tired.
· Offline Browsing is Excellent in wide screen. As we will be having a left side panel “HISTORY” or “FOLDERS” or “SEARCH” or “FAVORITES” etc… the right side panel / frame of the Explorer is now able to fully show the contents of the webpage or things.
· Google Earth pages is SUPERB on wide screen
· Wikimapia is EXCELLENT on wide – whole earth can be Scrolled.. Panned..
· Yahoo India road maps runs COOL on wide
· Google maps too same…
· So I am more than happy to have gone wide, barring earlier scepticism.
· I migrated from my 1997 LG CRT model Studioworks 420i.
· Mouse now runs longer distance to do the second to second operation like closing/minimise/maximise of the window.
· Wide monitor users will have less carpel tunnel syndrome dis. also.As it is, the LCD TFT are consuming less power – just 40w.
· Also seeing DVD movies on 16:10 wide format is real pleasure! Because in life all are on wide format, in fact, life is 360 degree.I think in future, monitors also will come in 360 degrees, but our work area in life is always focussed with our two hands, say 30 degrees.

Thanks, Huggies

India knew babies for 7000+ years.
All the babies as usual shit.
India never knew a technology – as simple as to deal with this Holy Shit while travelling.
As an ardent Tourist, Traveller & Nomad – my heartfelt thanks to Huggies.
This simple product made my life easier to Travel with my kid.
Thanks to copy cat products from Wipro, Tata or what not the prices are less now.
Ladies Sanitary napkin industry is also forging ahead in India.
Once upon a time these J&J’s products were very costly.
Now so many companies, brands…
It’s such a useful product, that it gave real FREEDOM to women which could not be even thought of by lip service leaders like EVR Periar, Gandhi etc.
Technology, Science, R & D – these are the real religions.
Human mind alone can emancipate another human from suffering.
Thanks Westerners for your Contribution to our daily lives.
East & Spirituality alone can’t be the answer to Earths mundane problems.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is Dead

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is Dead
Founder of TM [Transcendental Meditation] from Jabalpur, M.P is no more from
Feb 5, 2008. He died in his Norway HQs.

He told his patrons “My job is over, for which I have come, I am retiring”
on January 12, his 91st birthday. He could not exactly tell his day of death.

In Tamilnadu, even normal mortals with true devotion to God have known to have told their heirs of their day of demise. It is a divine gift.

It is also recorded in History that some simple Tamil souls have dug up their own cemetery and told everyone of their date of demise and went on the same day.

So I think this Yogi may not be as gifted as other devout simple souls of India.
He gave us disciples like Deepak Chopra.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deepak_Chopra

www.Chopra.com is his website. .Com means commercial that says in a nutshell about his Spiritualism based on his Materialism.
Anyhow, the matter is…

We Indians know the feat of Vivekananda, who was the first monk to visit US and convince them of Hinduisms’ importance.

But later age sages are numerous, namely
Swami Yogananda [“Autobiography of an Yogi”]
Rajneesh alias Osho,
Swami Prabupadhanandha [ISKON],
Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh
Swami Sri Sri Ravishankar [Art of Living Foundation]
Jagad Guru Jakki Vasudev [Isha Yoga]
Sugabodhanada
Vedhathri Maharishi [Vazhga Vazhamudan]
Mata Amritanandmayee
In this non-exhaustive list joins this Muni too.

So, when I was fortunately introduced to this Yogi’s disciple’s instruction in the year 1988 at my Arulmigu Palani Andavar Polytechnic, Palani for a meagre fee of Rs.60, I was frankly sceptical.

That time, I was an Atheist –due to my maternal uncle’s malefic influence.

I doubted the process of Transcendental Meditation in which the teacher told me to use the photo of the Maharishi and pray him.

The teacher told us this icon worship is just to induce the process, so we can use any icon which we like to worship.

The teacher also whispered a special mantra in my ears after checking my “Nadi”.

He said the mantra should not be spoken loudly; not to be written or disclosed to anyone & it has to be thought of repeatedly inside the mind, which is the way to do the TM. Till date I remember my special mantra, and keep it a secret.

But the use of icon, worship and a special mantra all these were antagonistic to my Atheistic mind at that time.

Nevertheless, I continued doing the TM, as I had faith in Indian Healing Systems.

Along the process of repetition of the mantra, our thoughts vanish, and then mantra also vanishes. Now our “Being” is cruising in the universe.

I used to do the TM till 1990. But I could not see any great results, so slowly I stopped practising.

Now, with lot of turmoils in my life, still I keep going because of frequent practise of my own kind of Dhyana or Meditation or may be TM – I don’t know what.

Spiritual awakening is required for any human being.

It is glad that the departure of the Yogi is a time of retrospection and reinvigoration.

I urge you to read these pages and get some shot of TM, folks!

Change in Tamil New Year from April 14 to Jan 15

I vehemently protest this Bill by Dr. Kalaingar Mu.Karunanidhi.
Stupid thing, Foolish Policy.

This “Chithirai Vishu” is celebrated all across India:
Kerala : “Vishu”
Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh as "Ugadi"
Maharashtra it is known as "Gudipadava
Baisakhi (Punjab),
Poila Baishakh (Bengal), Bohaag Bihu (Assam)
Singlaese as Buddhika http://buddika.wordpress.com/
[at least Singalese & Tamils are UNITED in this, Karuna wants to cut this also]
http://www.ambimama.com/ says thus:-
The Tamil calendar is based on the Hindu solar calendar also used in Assam, Bengal, Kerala, Nepal, Manipur, Orissa and the Punjab. It in turn influenced the calendars of Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Sri Lanka and Thailand where the traditional New Year falls around April 14 as well. The Hindu lunar calendar is conversely used in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra where the traditional year begins on the new moon preceding April 14. This corresponds to the “Hindu century”. The Vakya or Tirukannitha Panchangam (the traditional Tamil almanac) outlines this sequence.
By this CROOKED decision M.Karunanidhi [Mooda Karuna?] further distances Tamils from Indians & Sinhalese, Punjabis, Assamese, Burmese. Laos, Thailand, Cambodia etc.
What he tries to achieve is making Pongal as the TRUE Tamil Puthandu
so that Tamil MUSLIM and CHRISTIANS will celebrate it
It is a BAD decision
Tamil MUSLIMS and CHRISTAINS will never consider any Indian / Tamil tradition as TRULY their own, they have their own INTEGRITY and FANATICISM
MK Govt should be dismissed for this
Thaip Pongal Astro-Scientific Reason:
when Sun Enters in 10th House Makara Zodiac which is Jeevana Stana means
“Job, Duty etc” and for this Farmers celebrate Thai Month.

Tamil New Year Astro-Scientific Reason:
when Sun Enters in Mesha of Zodiac. [Start of new Calendar]

So each Tamil New Year is as per above Panchangham, Thirukkanitham, a mathematical rule.
Who is this Atheist volunteering to change this?
As an Atheist, let him celebrate Anna Birthday, Periyar Birthday – he can’t impose it on us. I respect Anna, Periyar – but frankly I cant celebrate their Birthdays.
I can’t even remember the Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday also. What we need is Science and Fiction not Historical Rubbish.
M.K also tells there was no Rama. He was there. He was a Kshatriya King. Also there was a Krishna as Yadava King.
M.K should keep quiet. He is hurting many. He is ANTI HINDU. He is ANTI INDIAN. By doing all these kinds of drama slowly he is becoming ANTI TAMIL too!
It is deeply regrettable that such a learned person is doing politics in people’s sentiments.
Some of MK lovers posted this crying blog http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080123201752AAaldtt

MK will loose votes…certainly…
J.Jeyalaitha Madam! Please next time change this rule and bring Sanity.
